strangely warm

there's a path i walk late at night
when i know that none will find me
the summer stars - they guide my way
but the peace comes with the rain
and the drops fall off my cap into my eyes

but snow has covered ground and i'm trapped
before this mirror
into eyes that sometimes show
the vampires that try the life i know
and rob me of my tears too young to cry

i don't feel changed
i don't feel transformed
i don't feel i've lost or gained
i feel strangely warm
and i know that god will lift me
well, i'm not feeling all that low
but i'm heading where my heroes have warned me not to go

i pour my love onto these six strings
that will never leave me
i take it down the roads i have to walk alone
while the voices of my heroes are calling me back home
as they try to catch me falling 
on the ice beneath the snow
